N: just called u to confirm that there exist a person with name 'ElectionReddy'. Your friend B and me had a bet on existence of name 'ElectionReddy'. So B gave your number and asked me to confirm. So... your name is really 'ElectionReddy' na... Hmmm... I lost the bet. Bye...

Early morning, my phone was ringing. Its from xyz.
Me: Hello xyz garu, tell me .. how are you?
xyz: is it electrician ... Reddy?
Me: No, this is eLECTIONrEDDY.
xyz: ohhh, sorry.. sorry... was about to call electrician... bye.
Me: bye :)

I understood.. he was searching for electrician contact in his contacts... and by mistake called me.

Registering Email Account At IIT

This was happened when I joined IITB for M.Tech.. On Day 1, we had to sign on some policy and then apply for email id like xyz@cse.iitb.ac.in . In the rules for id selection they had mentioned that, everyone will refer in future with this id, so keep it simple and short, and don't go for fancy names. I thought, "electionreddy" might be too long(taken "keep it short" seriously) so given "election@cse.iitb.ac.in" as my id in the form.

The other day we were allowed to computer lab and asked to login to our accounts. Everyone could except me. It was saying invalid username. I went to SystemAdministrator and told the problem. She told that id "election" was already in use, so choose some other id. I thought "Ohh, some other election is already there... I am not unique in the campus...". But it was not that... She told that they had used that id for some departmental elections. :P. Then I felt... OK, mine is still unique in the campus... Then I had given my unique id "electionreddy" and was accepted.

Reply Mail from Loksatta Activist

Today I have responded to one of the Loksatta 's activities mentioning my willingness to participate in the activity. I got a reply mail saying ok for it and at the end he wants to know my original name... :-)

At ToastMasters Session

Today I have attended Toastmasters session at my workplace. I was assigned the task of counting votes to select best speaker. So the evaluator introduced me as "Today we have Voter(VoteCounter) a guest and his name suites to the task... and he is Election Reddy". I have to show my id to some of them to make them believe that its really my name. One of the speakers told that my name is unique. And as usual there was Q from someone for the story behind my name. Finally, I got The Best Listener Badge today. :-)

Fight with Facebook

I have to fight a lot with Facebook to make them accept that Election is a
name.
I have written them a mail that Election is a name and its mine :). They asked for some identification proof. Took it lite... and used My surname to make Election a name :').
